Sonesta Plans $400 mil Orlando Resort & Waterpark
ORLANDO, FL, February 20, 2006. Construction has begun on the Sonesta Orlando Resort at Tierra del Sol here. Located 10 minutes from Walt Disney World, the $400-million project will be part of Sonesta Hotels & Resorts' collection and includes a condo hotel resort and a five-acre, multi-level waterpark.
Approximately 540 townhomes and 432 condominiums will be located in 104 buildings at the property. In addition to the waterpark, a 100,000-sf clubhouse, a full-service spa and restaurants are in the works at the complex. Construction will take place in stages and completion is slated for late 2007 or early 2008.
