Dennis Carew and David Johnson Named to Millennium Sales and Caterng Directorships
NEW YORK, NY, February 22, 2006. Millennium Hotels and Resorts, North America, has announced the appointment of Dennis Carew to global director of group sales and David Johnson to director of sales and catering information, North America. In their new positions, Carew will develop and promote group business at all Millennium properties and Johnson will oversee the management of Millennium's application and sales information systems and personnel.
Dennis Carew is a travel and hospitality industry veteran who brings over twenty years of hotel, convention bureau, and convention center sales experience to Millennium Hotels and Resorts, North America's national sales office in Washington, D.C. He joins Millennium from the InterContinental Hotels Group where he was a Key Account Director responsible for servicing key accounts and developing new accounts and markets, including market segments such as military defense and political associations, labor unions, educational associations, and finance and insurance organizations.
He began his career in the hospitality industry in 1985 with diverse positions as a concierge, night auditor, and front office manager for The Plaza Hotel in New York City. Carew then went on to hold management positions at The Omni Hotels National Sales Office as a business development manager, the Washington, D.C. Convention & Tourism Corporation as a convention sales manager, the Puerto Rico Convention Bureau as a regional sales manager, and the Palm Springs Convention Center as the eastern regional sales manager.
Carew is a member of the following professional organizations: American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), Society of Government Meeting Professionals (SGMP), Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI), National Coalition of Black Meeting Planners (NCBMP), and the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA).
David Johnson, director of sales and catering information, North America, was most recently a client services business consultant for Newmarket International where he prepared and implemented sales systems solutions for a global portfolio of international hotel groups, including the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts, Wyndham International, and InterContinental Hotels Group, in the Americas and over fifteen countries in Asia, Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
Johnson has held positions as director of group sales for Chetola Resort in Blowing Rock, North Carolina and catering/conference service manager for Sheraton properties in Boone and Raleigh, NC. He will begin his new position on March 6th and will be based in Millennium Hotels and Resorts, North America's corporate headquarters in New York City.
