ORLANDO, FL, March 23, 2006. With the peak summer travel season just around the corner, the Downtown Disney Resort Area Hotels' kid-friendly activities and amenities offer something for all vacationing families - regardless of their budget.
"With seven unique hotels to choose from, the Downtown Disney Resort Area Hotels offer a wide range of hotel choices to accommodate every family's needs and vacation budget," said Catherine Ewer, co-chairman of the organization's marketing committee. "From special children's quarters and suites that sleep the whole family, to planned poolside activities and Disney Character Breakfasts, there's a Downtown Disney Hotel and activity for everyone. Plus, all of our hotels are within walking distance to Downtown Disney, and feature at least one on-site swimming pool, game room and play area, as well as complimentary transportation to the Disney parks."
To follow are specific examples of the kid-friendly accommodations, amenities and activities guests can enjoy this summer at the Downtown Disney Hotels:
Disney Character Breakfasts, where guests get to meet and dine with some of their favorite Disney characters, are held at the Grosvenor on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays; at the Hilton on Sundays, and at the Buena Vista Palace on Saturdays. (Guests should contact the hotels direct for Disney Character Breakfast pricing and reservations.)
The Grosvenor's children's suites feature a separate, Disney-themed room for the kids. Located adjacent to the parents' quarters, these children's suites are specially designed for optimal vacation fun - complete with bunk beds, 25-inch color television, high-speed Internet access and in-room TV video games. (A limited number of children's suites are available, book early for best selection.)
The Doubletree Guest Suites, Disney's only all-suite property, features a special kids' check-in desk where arriving kids register and receive goodie bags, a kid's play room/theater, and kid's splash pool. The hotel also holds seasonal weekend evening "PJs and Pillows" story hour (Fridays) and "Dive-in movies" by the pool (Fridays and Saturdays Memorial day through Labor Day, weather-permitting).
The Downtown Disney Resort Area Hotels consist of the Best Western, Holiday Inn, Doubletree Guest Suites, Grosvenor Resort, Hilton, Royal Plaza and the Buena Vista Palace Resort & Spa. With a total of 27 restaurants, more than 3,600 rooms and scores of amenities, they offer a rate, space and menu to please every guest.
Located on Disney property, the Downtown Disney Resort Area Hotels are within walking distance of some of the area's best shopping, dining and entertainment.
