Schweitzer Mountain Resort Puts Improvements in Place as Partnership Changes

. October 14, 2008

IDAHO, July 6, 2005. Schweitzer Mountain Resort is planning a series of improvements to the north Idaho ski resort as part of a change in its partnership with Harbor Properties, Inc. "We're eager to begin making improvements to expand winter and summer recreational opportunities on the mountain," said Sandy Chio, spokesperson for Schweitzer Mountain Resort. "We're also improving resort facilities for a better overall experience for our guests. And, we're continuing to implement our master plan, focusing on real estate development at the resort."

The change in partnership that owned Schweitzer Mountain and Stevens Pass means that New Schweitzer LLC, a Seattle-based investment group, will assume full ownership of Schweitzer. Harbor Properties Inc., a Seattle-based real estate company, will assume ownership of Stevens Pass. The change in ownership went into effect June 30, 2005.

"This new arrangement allows Schweitzer to pursue its goals and proceed with plans to invest in immediate and long-term improvements, positioning Schweitzer as a world class destination ski resort," Chio said. "Harbor Properties will continue to pursue its goals for improving and operating Stevens Pass. The restructuring of ownership will be unnoticeable to the majority of employees and guests, but they will definitely see an improvement in the recreational opportunities and village amenities we have to offer at Schweitzer."

Winter improvements planned at Schweitzer include installing a T-Bar/surface lift which would open up 350 acres of new terrain near Little Blue Mountain for advanced skiers and snowboarders; installing a "Magic Carpet" lift for beginners; and adding a Tubing area. A phased upgrade of the Lakeview Lodge is also in place. Design Workshop, one of the premiere resort planning firms in the world, has been redesigning the Schweitzer Resort Village for growth. Summer activities such as tennis and miniature golf are in the plans; expansion of horseback riding, mountain biking, and paintball are also in consideration.

Ron Nova will continue as Schweitzer's General Manager. "We are exploring all the ways we can position Schweitzer Mountain among the most highly rated resorts in the United States," Nova said. "We are creating a more animated atmosphere with a full selection of guest amenities. Most of all, we look forward to welcoming old friends and new visitors who want to take advantage of what we have to offer year round."

For those who want a more permanent presence at the resort, there will be two new real estate opportunities. In 2006, 35 lots at Trappers Creek will be available for purchase. These lots are in a premier, slopeside location and can accommodate one to four units per lot. At Greyhawk, a prime ski-in/ski-out location featuring a private community, 40 lots will be made available for purchase.
