. October 14, 2008

COZUMEL, Mexico, May 4, 2006. Travelers visiting the popular Mexican-Caribbean island of Cozumel this summer will find many of the destination's hotels and resorts sporting new facades, guest rooms, restaurants, beach areas and more.

Having completed more than $80 million (USD) in renovations to date, Cozumel hotels and resorts are looking better than ever. Along with major hotel renovations, stemming in part from Hurricane Wilma, Cozumel has experienced a great deal of change since last year and with all the wonderful transformations, travelers have even more reason to visit and revisit the cozy island retreat.

With more than 50 hotel properties and over 4,000 guest rooms available on the island, Cozumel continues to offer visitors an incredible array of accommodations and amenities to suit every traveler's interest and budget. All of the island's hotels, except for two, are now open to receive guests. The Park Royal Cozumel is completing a pre-Wilma redesign project and is expected to open September 2006, and the Presidente Intercontinental Cozumel Resort and Spa has elected to reopen later in the year due to plans to expand facilities and upgrade amenities.
