Brian Garavuso and Barry Robertson Appointed to HFTP Board
AUSTIN, TX, May 4, 2006. Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP) announced today the appointment of Brian Garavuso, CHTP, to its International Board of Directors effective immediately, and the 2006-2009 appointment of Barry Robertson, CHAE, CHA. According to the HFTP Bylaws, the Executive Committee is charged with appointing three of the 17 board members. Garavuso is the senior vice president and chief information officer for Hilton Grand Vacations Company, LLC. Robertson is the senior vice president of finance at the Venetian Macau Limited in Macau, China. Garavuso fills the remainder of the 2005-2008 position recently vacated by appointed Director, Mark Hedley, CHTP, who recently resigned from his position. Robertson will be installed as a Director on October 20, 2006 at the HFTP Annual Convention & Tradeshow in Vancouver, B.C., Canada.
Garavuso's employer, Hilton Grand Vacations Company, LLC, (HGVC), is a full service vacation ownership development and management division of Hilton Hotels Corporation. Headquartered in Orlando, Fla., HGVC develops, markets and operates a system of brand name, high-quality vacation ownership resorts in select vacation destinations. Previous to his position at Hilton, Garavuso provided strategic technology direction and I.T. management for Interstate Hotels & Resorts, and before that was the vice president of technology for South Seas Resorts (SSR). Garavuso has been an active member of HFTP since 1994. He has served on the HFTP International Board of Directors and as chair of the Certified Hospitality Technology Professionals (CHTP) Advisory Council. He recently served as the 2005 chair for the HITEC Advisory Council, and served on the same council for many years.

Previous to his current position, he held a position as senior vice president and general manager of the Casino Nova Scotia/Halifax Hotel in Sydney, Nova Scotia. Robertson has been involved with HFTP for many years, and in 1991, he was honored with the Certified Hospitality Accountant Executive (CHAE) of the Year Award, a recognition attributed to the individual who scored the highest on the certification exam in a given year. He has also served on the HFTP ProLinks and Education Advisory Councils.
The HFTP Nominating Committee is conducting interviews this weekend to recommend a slate of directors and officers to fill the regularly elected slate. Their nominations will will be announced in July 2006, and the election will be held at the HFTP Annual Business Meeting, October 20, 2006 at the HFTP Annual Convention & Tradeshow in Vancouver, B.C., Canada.
