Escapes! Promotes Paul Tappana to CHief Operating Officer
ROGERS, AK, July 14, 2005. Escapes!, Inc., one of the nation's leading and oldest independent timeshare development companies, has announced the promotion of Paul Tappana to chief operating officer.
A seasoned industry veteran who has worked in a variety of leadership positions in the resort development industry since 1989, Tappana joined Escapes! in 1999 as manager of operations and was promoted to vice president of operations in 2002.
As COO, Tappana will report to the president and will be responsible for overall operational objectives including strategic planning, resource management, operational accountability and measurement, and strategic and tactical growth. He will oversee operations/legal, Property Management LLC, including new business and property development, and Escapes Travel Choices LLC. He will also assist with acquisitions and financial oversight, and he will continue to serve on multiple timeshare and whole-ownership association boards.
"We are grateful for Paul's unfailing commitment to Escapes! and his many contributions to our company during these critical years of growth," said T.L. Spencer, president of Escapes!, Inc. "Escapes! continues to grow and develop in new markets with new products. Our sales are strong and well ahead of projections, and we need a leadership team in place with creative, seasoned professionals like Paul to keep our growth focused and on track."
One of his many successes at Escapes! was leading the development team of Escapes Travel Choices, a vacation club designed to increase the flexibility of ownership and usage for members. ETC members tailor vacation choices to meet their lifestyles and needs, with choices of resort location, time of year, accommodation size, and length of stay. Tappana was also instrumental in the creation of Escapes Property Management LLC, which handles property management duties for both timeshare and whole ownership condominiums, and he oversees the sales support teams for resort operations. He also serves on 11 COA and VOA boards.
A truly formidable leader, Tappana played a pivotal role helping the company's gulf resorts survive Hurricane Ivan. He led the strike team that during those harrowing weeks prepared for, endured, and cleaned up after the hurricane, not only personally directing efforts but providing the glue that held the team together.
