. October 14, 2008

NEW YORK, NY, July 18, 2005. A survey conducted last week by Strategic Vision, a New York-based consultancy specializing in luxury travel marketing and with in-depth knowledge of Scotland, has confirmed the unfaltering strength of bookings for travel to that popular destination this summer. Responses from the prominent travel agents targeted for this survey indicate that visitors from North America are undeterred by the July 7 attacks on London.

Analysis from Speedy Response Of 30 agents targeted, 20 responded within five days, facilitating a timely analysis of their comments. Following is a synopsis of the results.

. Only two agents reported client cancellations of U.K. travel.

. No cancellations of travel to Scotland had been received at all.

. Travelers to Scotland this summer are considered unlikely to change their plans.

. Several agents reported phone calls from clients to discuss the current situation, but with no indication of panic.

. Recent publicity of events in Edinburgh and the G8 Summit at Gleneagles will have a long-term positive impact for Scotland.

. Agents in general felt that while further incidences of terrorism would naturally impact the travel industry, at this point in time there is a strong feeling of solidarity for the U.K. and a high level of admiration for the

stoicism demonstrated by Londoners.

Here is a selection of comments received:

"Americans have tremendous respect for the British resolve and tough attitude," commented Phoebe Weinberg of Greatways Travel. Peter Herff of Herff Travel observed, "We remain bullish on all destinations, especially the U.K."

Stacy Weigant of the Forest Travel Agency commented, "I have traveled all over, and I can truly say that Scotland is one of the most welcoming and secure-feeling places I have visited." Paul Niskanen of Cruise Masters said, "Scotland is viewed as a safer, unspoiled area of the world."

With golf a major focus in Scotland, Priscilla Alexander of Protravel noted, "While there have been some cancellations or re-routing of passengers into London, in only one case has it affected Scotland. None of our golfers who are there now, or traveling there this week, have interrupted their plans for Scotland."

Looking Ahead

Asked about the potential impact of the July 7 events on travel over the

coming 12 months, agents cited the following:

. a potential increase in bookings for private car and driver service

. more caution on public transportation . possible avoidance of travel in large groups

"It's important to reach out at this time," said Peter Bates, president and founder of Strategic Vision. "Our survey was designed as an initiative to provide support to travel agents in North America whose work here makes such an important contribution to Scotland's economy. Their efforts are invaluable in promoting this extraordinary destination."
