Destination Appoints David C. Bland Managing Director, New Projects
DENVER, CO, July 19, 2006. Charles Peck, president and chief operating officer for Destination Hotels & Resorts, today announced the company has hired David C. Bland as managing director of new projects. In this newly-created role, Bland will work in conjunction with Destination affiliate Lowe Destination Development in the development and integration of new resort properties into the management company's collection.
Bland initially will direct and coordinate the hospitality management and marketing of new projects such as Suncadia in Roslyn, Wash., Stowe Mountain Lodge in Vermont, Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif. and continued opportunities at Resort at Squaw Creek in Olympic Valley, Calif.
Prior to taking the post with Destination, Bland worked in hospitality investments, finance, development and asset management for a variety of companies. Bland most recently worked for Intrawest at its Winter Park development as director of sales for the ski resort's new base area village project. Before heading up the Intrawest sales effort, Bland was director of hotel investments for MONY Realty Capital which owned the Pointe South Mountain Resort in Phoenix, Ariz.; a Destination-managed property.
Bland's background also includes some entrepreneurial businesses that he founded or co-owned including an interval vacation ownership sales and marketing company and Marketel Communications which sold long distance systems to hotels. His nearly 30 years in the industry also includes work with Richfield Hospitality Services, Carlson Hospitality Corporation and Cosmopolitan Hotel Systems.
Bland is a graduate of the University of California-Berkeley. He is a retired Captain in the Colorado Wing of the United States Air Force Civil Air Patrol. A Colorado resident for more than 20 years, Bland enjoys golf, skiing and sailing. He is the father of two and currently resides in Parker, Colo.
