Rebuilding in Cancun Ends
CANCUN, Mexico, July 25, 2006. Rebuilding works in Cancun are almost over and "the two Mexican miracles" -including Riviera Maya- are operating almost at the same level regarding hotel rooms available before hurricane Wilma, in October 2005.
According to official figures, quoted in the El Financiero newspaper, the current supply reaches 50,000 rooms. In addition, the hotel supply is rebuilt and renewed, with an investment of 1.5 billion dollars in Cancun.
The destination's beaches are almost twice wider compared to prior seasons, which ensures Cancun's positioning in the international market.
Cancun is known as "the Mexican miracle" due to its unexpected tourist expansion, said Felix Gonzalez Cant, Governor of the State. Now there's a "second Mexican miracle" with Riviera Maya, the official added.
