Key West Inns Franchisees Benefit from Unique Program
Franchisee Success Coach
AUGUST 5, 2006. After an aggressive and innovative restructuring of services and fees, Key West Inns is beginning to see the benefits of one of its most unique programs - the Franchisee Success Coach. A 23% increase in overall revenue of the chain is directly related to implementation of this initiative.
"We developed the Franchisee Success Coach to help our existing franchisees in revenue management and to conduct in house training programs," said Neal Jackson, President of Birmingham-based Key West Inns.
Brian Robinson of Trussville, Alabama was hired to fill this position. After a few months, the Key West Inn chain rose 23% in revenue over prior year. Rick Patel who owns the Key West Inn in Tuscumbia, Alabama states that his hotel rose 33% in June of 2006 over prior year. Brian worked closely with Rick on yield management and rate analysis. All of which paid off well for that location. Rick Patel further states that this new position has been a huge help to me and my hotel, I'm very glad that this program was started. After many property visits and a few months in this position, Robinson states, "As the individual properties become comfortable with the new features our program offers, their revenues rise. Marketing co-mingles with every aspect of hotel operations. As operations improve, the value increases, and revenue improves."
Key West Inns, Inc. built and opened the first Key West Inn in Boaz, Alabama in 1989. Now there are fourteen locations in Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Florida. Along with the franchisee success coach, Key West Inns is offering other new features to the chain. Entry fees and royalty fees have been dramatically lowered. The license agreement is a ten year agreement with annual exit windows. Royalty fees have been modified to one dollar per room per day, and marketing efforts have focused entirely on internet advertising with impressive returns.
But it has been the Franchisee Success Coach program that has received the most attention. "Brian Robinson was the right person for this job" says Neal Jackson. "We needed someone who loves training programs and works well with people. Brian has these qualities and a strong desire to improve revenue of the individual Key West Inn locations."
Brian along with Neal Jackson is working now on additional revenue enhancement and training programs that will be rolled out this fall.
