Pacific Asia Travel Association Total Tourism Survey Due in October
BANGKOK, August 4, 2005. The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Total Tourism Survey will be released at the start of October. The survey covers all strategic factors impacting travel and tourism in Asia Pacific. It will be entitled, "Asia Pacific Travel and Tourism: The Industry Speaks".
PATA President and CEO Mr Peter de Jong said: "The PATA Total Tourism Survey is the definitive litmus test of travel trade sentiment in Asia Pacific this year. When the full results are tabulated, the implications for the industry will be far reaching."
Some 263 global members of the travel and tourism industry filled out the PATA Total Tourism Survey between February and June this year. They responded to questions on all the issues directly or indirectly facing the travel industry, among them: peace negotiations, terrorism, a common Asian currency, bird flu, global warming, ageing populations, tourism as cultural protector or destroyer, the mass media's coverage of crises, the impact of travel advisories, distribution technology, aviation, human resource challenges, domestic and regional tourism growth, and whether the industry is ready to handle a large volume of traffic from India and China (PRC).
PATA Director-Strategic Intelligence Centre, Mr John Koldowski, said: "There are some surprises and issues in there that need to be addressed by travel industry leaders."
The full PATA Total Tourism Survey will be released to the PATA Board of Directors on October 1 and to PATA members shortly afterwards. A summary will be available to all PATA members and survey respondents free of charge, with the full report selling for US$30 to PATA members and US$150 to non-members.
