Jerry H. Herman Joins DLA Piper

WASHINGTON DC, December 21, 2006. DLA Piper US LLP announced that Jerry H. Herman has joined the firm's Washington, D.C. office as Of Counsel in the Hospitality and Leisure practice group.

Herman comes to DLA Piper with over 25 years of legal, business and ownership experience in public and privately held real estate and hotel companies during their start-up, growth and/or restructuring phases. He has extensive experience in hotel and real estate acquisition, development, financing and capital formation transactions exceeding $1.5 billion in the United States and Europe.

Herman was CEO of Arlington Hospitality, a publicly traded hospitality company, where he led the development of corporate strategy resulting in significant debt reduction and restructuring. Prior to that, he was president of City Hotels USA, the affiliate of a European hotel and travel company, which bought, developed, repositioned and managed more than 20 hotels throughout the US and Europe. He also served as general counsel of C.R.I., Inc., a leading national real estate investment and management firm headquartered in the Washington, D.C. area.

He is active in several industry organizations and was a founding member of the national Doubletree and Homewood Suites by Hilton franchise advisor boards. He is also a member of the District of Columbia Bar.

Herman earned a J.D. from Duke University School of Law, an M.S. in urban and regional planning from the University of North Carolina and a B.A from the University of Pennsylvania.
