Jamaica Reports November Boom

. October 14, 2008

DECEMBER 21, 2006. November was another successful month for Jamaica, as latest UK visitor arrival figures increased by more than 27 per cent year on year, according to the latest figures from the Jamaica Tourist Board.

The Island welcomed some 15,368 visitors from the UK during November compared to 12,095 for the same period in 2005. November's increase of 27.1 per cent marks the 15th consecutive month that Jamaica has reported considerable growth from this market, representing the increasing interest in Jamaica as a destination here in the UK.

Jamaica Tourist Board's Regional Director for UK, Ireland and Northern Europe, Elizabeth Fox, welcomed the news and added that this has been underpinned by the JTB's UK-focused campaign and ongoing commitment to this market. "Jamaica saw a strong start to 2006 with significant growth in visitor numbers each month. As the year has progressed we have continued to see this strong growth pattern sustained. With the reported figures for November we're confident that Jamaica will end the year on a high."

"We have executed a targeted campaign within the UK to promote the diversity of Jamaica's tourism product. A significant element of our efforts has focused on educating travel professionals about Jamaica's wide choice of quality accommodation and the diverse range of activities and attractions, proving that Jamaica really has something for every kind of traveler. As more and more travel agents complete our destination on-line training programme - www.jamaicatravelspecialist.co.uk - they seem to be selling more and rapidly becoming big fans of Jamaica .These efforts are paying off as UK arrivals continue to go from strength to strength. We're extremely grateful to all those travel professionals who have supported Jamaica this year.

Early visitor figures for December indicate that Jamaica will enjoy yet another strong month. This trend is set to continue as we prepare to welcome visitors to Jamaica in March for the Cricket World Cup. Jamaica will be the perfect base for cricket fans, their families and friends as it offers so many wonderful experiences alongside the cricket. And to top it off, the strength of the Pound against the Dollar also means the visitors can enjoy fantastic value for money whilst in Jamaica" concluded Fox.
