Sonesta Opens Two Hotels in Chile
Sonesta Hotel Concepcion and Sonesta Hotel Osorno
JULY 17, 2009 - Sonesta International Hotels Corporation announced its first new hotel in Chile, the 120-room Sonesta Hotel Concepci'on. Opening today, this business class hotel features a theater, business center, restaurant, meeting space and is attached to an 80,000 square foot destination casino and shopping arcade. The Sonesta Hotel Osorno, which opens tomorrow, will offer 123 business class guest rooms with first class service. This hotel will offer a business center, full service restaurant, 3,000 square feet of meeting space and a casino with shopping arcade. These two hotels are the result of a partnership between GHL Hoteles and Sonesta.
Each of the two Sonesta hotels feature guest rooms with first class amenities, a full service business center, full-service restaurant, lobby bar, room service, 24-hour concierge service, WiFi throughout the hotel, fitness center, meeting space for up to 300 guests, and an executive floor with breakfast daily.
Concepci'on is Chile's second largest city, located 250 miles south of Santiago. Renowned as one of the main ports of Chile, it borders the lakes region on the Pacific coast. Concepci'on is a modern, walkable city with an extensive transportation system, eight universities and many international restaurants. Points of interest include Plaza Independencia (main square), University of Concepcion, city parks and the naval base.
Osorno is called the gateway to the lakes region, located in Patagonia about 500 miles south of Santiago. This beautiful agricultural area is known for fishing, skiing, hot springs and spectacular lakes. Osorno was colonized by Germans, which is still seen in its architecture and cuisine. The city offers a Cultural Center, Parque Artesanal (handicraft market) and Cathedral of St. Matthew overlooking the Plaza de Armas.
