AUGUST 3, 2009 - Mr. Denis Gruhier, Group General Manager of Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa, oversees the multiple hotel development's five properties. Having garnered extensive experience, Gruhier, a French national, is a seasoned professional whose career in hospitality commenced in 1973. He has held regional roles at dynamic hotel chains in Europe, North and South America, the Caribbean, Asia as well as Australia.

Gruhier started out with a keen focus in Food & Beverage, and went on to hone and impart his expertise in a wider scope of operations when he took up several appointments as Resident Manager, General Manager and Area Director of Operations & Human Resources. His extensive senior management expertise including that of overall hotel operations, coupled with a proven track record, has seen him drive and oversee properties of various magnitudes, including large resort hotels in different parts of the world.

As Group General Manager of Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa, Gruhier plays a strategic role in the positioning of the 441-room 5-star premier Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa, 17 Asian-styled luxury accommodation at The Villas, 12 long-stay serviced resort townhouses at The Duplex, the 4-star selected services Pyramid Tower Hotel incorporating 534 superior rooms and 230 fully-furnished Pyramid Suites & Studios, as well as the management of the serviced owner-occupied Resort Suites.

Gruhier's interest in Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa was spurred by the Hotel's extensive RM80million renovation programme, culminating in the upgrading of the 5-star flagship hotel's entire inventory of guestrooms and suites. He brings with him 35 years of experience and a solid background in hotel operations, pre-opening and opening of hotels and project management.

Gruhier's key career milestones have seen him previously assume the role of General Manager of the Dusit Thani Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand; the Dusit Thani Bangkok was voted as one of the ten best hotels in the world by Business Travel Magazine, UK edition. He also oversaw the opening of the world's first Versace hotel - Palazzo Versace in Gold Coast, Australia; and Faena Hotel + Universe - the first hip hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina - totally designed by Philip Starck.

He is active in a number of industry and community organisations. A multilingual, he is fluent in French, English, Spanish and German. He has several professional degrees and certifications.
