Atlanta Sheraton Gets Makeover

. August 31, 2009

AUGUST 31, 2009 - Strategically positioned in downtown Atlanta amid the cultural, entertainment and business pulse of the capital city of Georgia, the Sheraton Atlanta Hotel has for decades been recognized as the headquarters of choice for corporate meetings, conference groups and business travelers.

The original property dates back to the mid 1960's and its stellar meetings and event services has shaped its present growth as Atlanta's 6th largest meeting and convention hotel. In the past few years the Sheraton Atlanta has spent more than $70 million dollars in new construction and architectural enhancements, including the $20 million in 2008-2009's Capital Improvement Project. The hotel is powering it's evolution from an unpretentious property into a stylishly designed, eminently comfortable and richly-rewarding hotel experience.

All capital expenditures were programmed in concert with Sheraton Atlanta's drive to become one of the city's most energy efficient hotels, while incorporating a wide range of green initiatives into every enhancement project. A balance of a sustainable environment thoughtfully integrated with the millions invested in contemporary hotel guest enhancements leave nothing to be desired for today's business travelers at the Sheraton Atlanta

Meeting planners especially covet the hotel's design layout for its simplicity of access and egress. Sheraton's 90,000 sq. ft. of meeting space contiguously connects three floors of function space situated ideally between two guest room towers. The design also allows unique access to loading docks on all meeting space levels for effortless load in/out. For meetings, banquet, receptions, and social affairs the meeting rooms configure into a variety of spaces ensuring flexibility for conference planners.

Unlike most convention hotels, attendees at the Sheraton Atlanta will spend little time trying to find their meeting or event location. This harmonious layout allows effortless access to any destination on property.

All 765 guest rooms were extensively remodeled and now feature luxuriously comfortable Sheraton Sweet SleeperSM bedding, 37" LCD flat screen TVs, handsome desks coupled to matching drawer units, full-length framed mirrors, lounge chairs, fresh carpet, and the latest guest room keycard entry system. Guest bathrooms were stylishly refashioned with new granite vanities, Kohler brushed chrome fixtures, energy efficient lighting, and new dual-flush commode features that reduce water resource usage by 30%.

The Club level rooms and executive suites now feature 42" LCD flat screen TV's, while 108 rooms overlooking downtown's Ellis and Piedmont roads have been extended by 60 square feet. Expansion of these rooms has added more space for guests to relax and enjoy some of the largest accommodations downtown while bringing the architectural look of the hotel to a more sleek design.

Beyond imaginative catering from the kitchens commanded by Executive Chef, Steve Jamison, are dining options at Sheraton Atlanta's three distinct restaurants and a full-on martini bar. The cheerfully informal Collage serves breakfast and lunch with choices of an appetizing buffet or delectable a la carte menu. And the visually arresting (Fandangles) Restaurant, open nightly, offers a "Southern Evolution" menu created by Chef Jamison utilizing distinctly Southern regional and local ingredients for crafting international cuisine with health conscious menus. (Fandangles) overlooks a gracious Savannah-style Garden Courtyard framed by a 1/2 acre landscaped garden and signature swimming pool (open year-round) under a retractable roof.

The Deli, a specialty eatery adjacent to Collage, is the place to gather for great deli sandwiches, crisp salads and tempting pastries served at any hour of the day or night.

Amenities at the Sheraton Atlanta also include a 24-hour superbly equipped fitness center, full service business center, concierge, in room dining and high-speed wireless Internet access. The new Link@Sheraton experienced with Microsoft, located on the third floor, offers an innovative communications hub with complimentary 24/7 access to computer workstations equipped with Internet and the latest Windows 7.0, web cam abilities, Ethernet data ports for laptops, easily accessible electrical outlets for power, as well as free printing services and Wi-Fi access, allowing guests to e-mail, review local attractions, and even print up boarding passes.

Daniel Senden, Director of Sales & Marketing says, "Scheduling a meeting or corporate group event at the Sheraton Atlanta hotel is a unique encounter with an extraordinary venue where we dedicate all our efforts to deliver successful and highly productive enterprises every time."

Ideally located just 15 minutes from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the hotel is within easy walking distance of Peachtree Center, Centennial Park, CNN Center, The Georgia Aquarium, New World of Coke, Underground Atlanta and the Georgia World Congress Center. Surrounded by exciting shopping, dining and nightlife, the hotel is also convenient to the Georgia State Capital, and top sporting venues as Philips Arena, (Atlanta Hawks and Thrashers) the Georgia Dome, (Atlanta Falcons) and Turner Field (Atlanta Braves).
