Portland Marriott at Sable Oaks Completes Renovation

PORTLAND, ME, September 23, 2009 - The Portland Marriott at Sable Oaks has just completed a four and half million dollar renovation that upgraded the entire facility and made major improvements to the guest experience. These exciting renovations include a new lobby, which keeps in the tradition of the Marriott "great room" concept and also includes a newly added business library, a renovated indoor pool with hot tub, refurbished guest rooms, an updated lounge, restaurant and more.

Highlights of the renovation include the redesign of the lobby, with the addition of a business center and new check-in "pods," which use recycled materials for the countertops. Another feature added to the lobby includes a double sided fireplace that can be enjoyed in both the lobby and lounge areas of the hotel. Guests will immediately notice the more comfortable feeling that has been given to the hotel common areas, especially in the use of color schemes and lighting, which was designed to make the space feel more open and bright.

All 227 guest rooms and suites have been refurbished to have a more contemporary look and feel with new plush bedding, high-speed, in-room technology and flat screen televisions. The hotel's popular restaurant, Fire and Water Fish and Chop House, as well as the adjacent lounge have been redesigned to suit the needs of guests traveling for both business and pleasure. Enhancements include the new "day bar" featuring Starbucks coffee, lattes, smoothies, and more, as well as cocktail cubbies equipped with power connectivity perfect for work or pleasure. Fitness enthusiasts will enjoy the addition of a renovated indoor pool and locker rooms as well as a brand new fitness center with state-of-the-art equipment.
