Officer jointly opened Crown's latest development, the Crown Conference
Centre, located adjacent to Crown Promenade Hotel and Crown Entertainment
The Crown Conference Centre is a purpose-built hotel convention facility that addresses the varied needs of events organisers. The original Crown Conference Centre caters for large residential conferences, meetings, product launches and exhibitions. The centre's spectacular extension enables Crown to cater for conferences up to 840 delegates with 20 concurrent rooms, all on one site.
Tourism and Major Events Minister, Tim Holding said the new conference centre would be a significant tourism asset for Melbourne. “Melbourne has the greatest share of the lucrative business events industry in Australia and we are now ranked alongside some of the world's top convention cities including Beijing, Singapore and Dubai” said Mr Holding.
“Major projects like the Crown Conference Centre and Crown Metropol deliver jobs and provide a significant boost to our economy. This will be a great addition to Melbourne's tourism infrastructure and further boost our competitive edge to attract business events and conferences. Crown's ongoing investment in tourism infrastructure shows the confidence the private sector has in Melbourne as a world-class tourist destination,” said Mr Holding.
Crown's C.E.O., David Courtney commented, “this major investment by Crown is a demonstration of our confidence in Melbourne as an international tourist destination and host city for world-class conference and exhibitions. To date, more than 30 conferences and over 100 meetings have been booked for the first 6 months of operation, which has exceeded our expectations. By the end of twenty-ten, we expect that over 50,000 delegates will have been guests of this impressive new centre.”

The centre's clean, modern design provides the ideal backdrop for any conference and boasts an abundance of natural light in all breakout rooms. Together with a flexible layout, the latest in audiovisual technology such as wireless Internet connections, data technology, web-casting and video conferencing facilities, the Crown Conference Centre will set a new benchmark for conference venues in Australia.
The centre's impressive, pillar-less Crown Conference Hall featuring operable walls, will enable conference organisers to host up to 840 delegates seated theatre-style and provides the option of using up to 19 concurrent rooms all located on a single floor. The airy and spacious centre's other large space, the Promenade Room, will accommodate up to 600 guests when configured as a theatre-style setting.
The Crown Conference Centre's extension will complement the existing centre and will seamlessly join Crown Promenade Hotel and Crown Entertainment Complex.
