Comfort Inn Logan Airport Gets Green All Over In $2 Million Eco Renovation

Saunders Hotel Group Delivers Another Big Win For The Environment

. March 18, 2010

Boston, MA - March 17, 2010 - The Comfort Inn & Suites Logan International Airport, a Saunders Group Hotel, is nearing completion of a multi-million dollar eco-driven renovation, once again making it the national leader in its class for urban ecotourism and guest perks. Located just three miles from Logan Airport, the newly redesigned Comfort Inn now satisfies eco-conscious and budget-conscious travelers more than ever, making it the natural choice for overnight stays and longer visits.

"Our new design is a win for the environment and a bigger win for our guests," says Katrina D'Argenis, General Manager. "In this economy, budget-savvy travelers insist on great value, outstanding service and consistent, quality accommodations—this renovation is the smartest way to meet those needs."

Comfort Inn's responsible green initatives translate back to the guests' benefit and overall experience by enabling the hotel to offer more 'freebies' than its airport competitors:

• Free HD TV (including HBO)
• Free deluxe breakfast buffet
• Free WiFi throughout hotel
• Free 24-hour business center
• Free 24-hour Logan Airport Shuttle
• Free 24-hour coffee
• Free copy of USA Today

Today more than 90+ green practices are in place including:

• in-room recycling bins
• food waste composting program that engages guests
• laundry ozone system (reduces hot water usage)
• spa-quality shampoo and soap dispensing systems (eliminate 270 thousand small bottles from entering the waste stream)
• pool ionizing system (makes the water sparkling clean without unhealthy chlorine)
• fleet of CNG (compressed natural gas) shuttles

Each material, fabric and finish chosen for the renovation was researched for its highest sustainability footprint and lowest environmental impact. Even the property's new landscaping was designed to use 95% indigenous plants and trees that need less water. To promote excellent indoor air quality, low-VOC (volatile organic compound) paints along with Green Seal certified cleaners and air fresheners. During the renovation, nearly 80% of all debris removed from the property was recycled and kept out of local landfills.

Owned and operated by the third-generation Saunders Hotel Group, this 208-room Comfort Inn near Logan Airport has been committed to ongoing environmental initiatives since its opening in September 2000. Tedd Saunders, Saunders Hotel Group's Chief Sustainability Officer sums it up this way: "We are extremely proud that our dedicated team was able to extend the hotel's industry-leading environmental commitment by looking after our valued guests' needs while helping protect our unique planet."
