Grand Hyatt NY Launches New Food Service Concept
Grand Hyatt New York Brings Niche New York Food and Beverage Brands to Grand Central Neighborhood with First-of-its-Kind 24-Hour Market
April 5, 2010 - Grand Hyatt New York is changing the face of hotel room service and dining with the launch of Market, its new instant-gratification food and beverage venue slated to open on Monday, April 5. Situated in the hotel's lobby, Market will bring the best of New York's tastes and treats to the Grand Central neighborhood including Roasting Plant, Tisserie, Chickalicious and Macaron Cafe NYC. In addition to these popular brands, Market will offer locally-sourced essentials for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks, including hot meals, sandwiches, beer and wine. A fun play on local classics like the “NY Yankee” Pot Roast will also be part of the Market's gourmet cuisine. In Grand Hyatt New York's continual effort to maximize ease and streamline service, hotel guests will be able to charge Market items to their guest room.
The hotel will continue to offer traditional room service, while this new food and beverage experience will cater to the changing needs of today's travelers. Guests who yearn for a quick, healthy meal when arriving late from a flight or meeting will enjoy the ease of Market, as well as visitors looking for high-quality food choices in Midtown Manhattan. Even the packaging at Market resists traditional hotel food service design, with colorful and memorable cups, bags and to-go boxes with whimsical patterns and colors. The food quality, selection and ease of Market is parallel to gourmet food markets such as Dean & DeLuca.
Designed by architecture and design firm Bentel & Bentel - known for New York City hotspots like The Modern, Craft, Eleven Madison Park, and Gramercy Tavern - Market will feature a 30-foot long display case, wood block flooring, azure blue lighting, and a black steel ceiling. Staff uniforms were styled by LA stylist, Gila Rashal-Niv, who has created a classic casual look with clothing by J. Crew.
“Market is truly changing the concept of hotel room service. It was conceived for our busy guests and travelers looking for quick, high-quality food with a sense of New York style and an eye toward healthy living,” said Matthew Adams, Vice President / Managing Director. “Market will be a sought-after service for our guests and a destination for New Yorkers looking for fresh food anytime day or night. With competitive pricing based on local markets rather than room service, Market will not only be accessible, but affordable.”
