Hospitality pros bring exemplary training at upscale properties to new positions
PANAMA CITY BEACH, FL - APRIL 15, 2010 - On behalf of Sandcastle Hotels and Oaseas Resorts, Robert Kamm, chief financial officer of Sandcastle Hotels, today announced the appointment of a general manager and spa director for Bay Point Marriott Golf Resort & Spa.
David R. Sheets brings 13 years of hospitality industry know-how to his new role as general manager. Beginning his career in Chicago, Ill., where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Hospitality Management at Roosevelt University, Sheets has been a Gulf Coast resident since 1996. He gained experience in all facets of hotel sales and management at the Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf & Spa Resort, where he worked for five years, and at the Marriott Bay Point Golf Resort and Spa, where he has been employed since 2005 as director of operations/assistant general manager.
John R. Catchen-Dunne is Bay Point Marriott Golf Resort & Spa's new spa director. With more than 19 years specializing in the creation and management, including retail sales, of upscale spas and in recreational services and hotel management, Catchen-Dunne was instrumental in growing the spa category as spas were gaining a presence in hotels and becoming the driving force of trip planning. Skilled in all facets of the recreation and spa industry, Catchen-Dunne has planned, developed and opened spa and fitness facilities, including large and upscale operations such as the five-star Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs; the four-star Registry Resort in Naples, Fla.; Cheeca Lodge in Islamorada, Fla., and Gaylord Entertainment - Gaylord Texan, both AAA Four-Diamond properties; and Harrah's Entertainment, Inc., among others
