Berry Named Director of Business Development at Protect-A-Bed
CHICAGO, IL - May 3, 2010) - Shawn Berry has been added to the growing hospitality division as the director of business development at Protect-A-Bed®, a premier provider of bedding protection products. In his position Berry will focus on uncovering new associations and sales opportunities for Protect-A-Bed, as well as key partnerships with hospitality franchisors and their brands, ownership groups and management companies.
“Protect-A-Bed has seen significant growth in recent years, and we hope that with the addition of Shawn, we can expand our leadership and expertise in the hospitality industry,” said Protect-A-Bed CEO James Bell. “He is an essential part of our company's team.”
Protect-A-Bed offers an entire line of protection products for pillows and mattresses for the hospitality industry, focusing on helping hoteliers with sustainability and bed bug protection
“The hospitality industry is focused on creating a healthy and comfortable sleep environment for its guests, as well as keeping mattresses out of landfills,” Berry said. “Hotel owners and operators can contribute to this growing disposal problem with soiled or bed bug infested mattresses. Putting them in a landfill is not a sustainable option.”
“Sustainability isn't just a buzz word in the hospitality industry - it has become a guiding force. This is an extremely important issue right now,” Berry said
“We counsel hotels to implement steps that help prevent bed bugs from infesting their bedding and offers an opportunity for early bed bug detection, which helps preserve a hotel's reputation and can also save money from managing infested bedding and rooms,” he said.
Prior to joining Protect-A-Bed, Berry served as the executive director of corporate partnerships at Koni Corporation and Kojo Worldwide. Berry's nearly 18 years of business development, international marketing and consulting experience also includes launching many new products and enterprising software solutions within technology. He also held key director and management level positions with Endeavors Technology, Tadpole Technology and Attachmate.
Berry has a B.S. in Marketing Strategy from the University of Redlands and a Master's Degree in business administration from the University of Washington. He is a member of the American Resort and Development Association, NABHOOD Supplier Committee, and the AHLA timeshare and resort committee. Berry resides in Carlsbad, Cal.
