Argentina House Opens in Johannesburg
June 14, 2010 - Argentina is showcasing its incredible attractions at this summer's World Cup finals in Johannesburg, South Africa with the launch of special exhibition dedicated to its tourism and cultural heritage.
Argentina House was opened at the Sandton Convention Centre by Nobel Peace Prize nominee Estela de Carlotto, Argentine football legend Ozzie Ardiles and the current Miss Argentina.
The exhibition forms part of World Football House, a ground-breaking exhibition that - for the first time in World Cup history - is providing each of the 32 participating countries a dynamic platform to showcase their national brand identity, and to celebrate their respective cultural and commercial assets.
Estela de Carlotto is the president of the Grandmothers of the Plaza de Mayo, a human rights group that has campaigned for the return of babies stolen by the dictatorship that governed Argentina during the Dirty War (1976 to 1983). She has so far recover 101 grandchildren.
This week she has also held a press conference at the University of Pretoria, attended by Argentina manager, Diego Maradona.
Footballing legend Ozzie Ardiles was part of Argentina's 1978 World Cup winning squad, who also became a cult hero at Tottenham Hotspur.

World Football House is screening all the games from the tournament live, giving fans a superb place to soak up the atmosphere.
South Africa's President Zuma welcomed a VIP delegation that included 25 presidents from across the world, as well as UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon, for the opening of World Football House last Friday.
