STR Reports US Hotel Performance for Week Ending June 12, 2010

The U.S. hotel industry reported increases in all three key performance measurements during the week of 6-12 June 2010, according to data from STR.
In year-over-year measurements, the industry's occupancy increased 8.2 percent to 65.8 percent. Average daily rate was up 1.7 percent to US$98.55. Revenue per available room rose 10.0 percent to US$64.83.
Among the Top 25 Markets, New Orleans, Louisiana, experienced the largest occupancy increase, rising 28.5 percent to 75.4 percent, followed by Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota-Wisconsin (+26.4 percent to 75.6 percent), and Miami-Hialeah, Florida (+24.6 percent to 70.2 percent). Orlando, Florida, was the only top market to report an occupancy decrease, falling 3.4 percent to 60.8 percent.
Three markets posted double-digit ADR increases: New York, New York, (+17.8 percent to US$244.45); Chicago, Illinois (+15.0 percent to US$137.09); and Miami-Hialeah (+13.1 percent to US$131.60). Anaheim-Santa Ana, California, reported the largest ADR decrease, falling 9.4 percent to US$99.94, followed by Seattle, Washington, with a 6.2-percent decrease to US$111.84.
Miami-Hialeah experienced the largest RevPAR increase, rising 40.9 percent to US$92.36. Two other market reported RevPAR increases of more than 30 percent: Chicago (+37.8 percent to US$106.72) and Minneapolis-St. Paul (+30.2 percent to US$72.13). Anaheim-Santa Ana posted the largest RevPAR decrease, falling 4.8 percent to US$75.61.
