PORTLAND, OR - September 8, 2010 - The Ecotourism and Sustainable Tourism Conference (ESTC) is an annual international gathering of tourism industry leaders and sustainability experts that brings together innovative minds from across the industry to discuss practical ideas and solutions that inspire positive changes. This year, the ESTC is being hosted in Portland, Oregon, a leading U.S. city that has been consistently rated "the most sustainable city" in the country. Co-hosted by Travel Portland and Travel Oregon, the ESTC 2010 will feature several sessions and networking events that showcase the best of local sustainable businesses and green living leaders.
ESTC 2010 Opening Plenary Session "Oregon's Sustainability Story"

Oregon Congressman Earl Blumenauer and local business, tourism and tribal leaders join in an interactive discussion about livability, place-making, and sustainability, and how these shared values have factored in shaping Oregon as an attractive sustainable tourism destination. Speakers: Congressman Earl Blumenauer (D-Oregon); Todd Davidson, Executive Director, Travel Oregon; Jeff Miller, President & CEO, Travel Portland; Nancy Stueber, President, Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI); Christian Ettinger, Owner, Hopworks Urban Brewery; Dawnielle Tehama, Marketing Director, Kla-Mo-Ya Casino and Member, Oregon Tribal Tourism Working Group; and Elizabeth Woody, Writer and Artist.
Sustainable Fashion Show at the ESTC 2010 Opening Reception Wednesday, September 8th, 5:00-7:30pm Pavilion Ballroom, Hilton Portland (921 SW Sixth Ave., Portland, OR)
In partnership with the fashion show producer Jillian Rabe, the ESTC Opening Reception will present a runway of Oregon's most sustainable designers and apparel companies. The Sustainable Fashion Show will feature local designers presenting a variety of brands supporting green living through sustainable and local design practices. From recycled and pre-consumer upcycled materials, to local production and green business practices, these designers represent the diversity of what Portland one of the greenest city in America. Designers will be available at designated booth spaces where guests can meet the brand owners personally, learn more about their products, and even shop. The Sustainable Fashion Show is scheduled to begin at 5:30pm. Sponsors: Clair Vintage, Carolyn Hart, O'Pearl, KEEN Footwear, Pendleton, CVDC and Looptworks.

ESTC 2010 Sustainable Culinary Showcase Thursday, September 9th, 7:30-10:30pm The Ecotrust Building (721 NW Ninth Ave. Portland, OR)
The Sustainable Culinary Showcase (www.ecotourismconference.org/culinary-showcase) is an interactive and fun evening networking event featuring best local sustainable restaurants, wineries and breweries. In the spirit of sustainability, the evening event will also feature entertainment by the local star Trash Can Joe, a smooth blue grass type band that play on recycled items made into instruments.
