MGM MIRAGE Announces a Promotion and an Appointment
Merlinda Gallegos is promoted to Vice President of Corporate Philanthropy - Gary Mayo is appointed a
LAS VEGAS, NV, January 22, 2007. MGM MIRAGE (NYSE:MGM) today announced the promotion of Merlinda Gallegos to the position of Vice President of Corporate Philanthropy where she will oversee the company's charitable giving initiatives and activities associated with the Voice Foundation. The Voice Foundation is the company's nonprofit entity that collects and disperses employee donations to deserving charities and causes where its employees live and work.
Gallegos joined MGM MIRAGE in 2005 as the Director of Corporate Philanthropy. Under her leadership, the philanthropy department directed the Katrina Recovery Fund and other relief services for employees of the Beau Rivage in Biloxi, Mississippi. Additionally, her team successfully introduced the Voice Foundation at Mandalay Resort Group properties following the merger with MGM MIRAGE in 2005. She holds a Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Nevada Las Vegas, where she serves on the advisory board for the College of Liberal Arts.
Also, MGM MIRAGE announced the appointment of Gary Mayo as Vice President of Energy and Environmental Services. In this role, Mayo will create and execute the corporate strategy for sustainability and raise the awareness among employees, business partners and guests.
Mayo joins MGM MIRAGE from Visteon Corporation where he launched various business efforts, such as customer service, government affairs and corporate responsibility programs. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing from Long Island University and Master in Business Administration Degree from Duke University.
