Mark Scheller Named Sol Casino's Director of Hotel Sales
TUCSON, AZ - October 5, 2010 - Sales executive Mark Scheller has been named Director of Sales for the Casino Del Sol Resort, Spa & Conference Center.
“Mark has extensive sales experience in both the resort hotel landscape as well as with international meeting planning companies,” said Mark Birtha, president and chief development officer for Sol Casino's properties. “He provides Sol Casinos with the best of both worlds: he brings a significant number of relationships with sales leaders throughout the United States and he has a thorough understanding of the Tucson and Arizona marketplace.”
In his new role, he will oversee all group and leisure sales for the hotel and conference center currently under construction. The resort is scheduled to open in November of 2011. It will feature 215 rooms and suites, a 35,000-square foot conference center, a new outdoor pool with event lawn, five new F&B venues, an elegant spa & fitness center and a new retail store.
Scheller most recently was the Director of Global Accounts for Helms Briscoe, the nation's largest procurement source for meetings and events. A 30-year veteran in the hospitality industry, Scheller held sales management and director positions with Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt, Sheraton and Omni hotels and resorts around the country.
“The opportunity to develop a sales organization that has the potential of the Casino Del Sol Resort, Spa & Conference Center comes along seldom in any hotelier's career,'' Scheller said. “Nothing of this quality or magnitude has ever been attempted in Southern Arizona before. It provides an alternative for meetings and events that's long overdue.”
Scheller brings a wealth of knowledge and experience along with an extreme focus on customer relationships and service. “Our goal is to provide our customers with the levels of personal service and quality they expect by highly trained, attentive and responsive sales professionals who really care,'' he said. “It's the way it should be.”
“Mark will be a perfect fit and will be quite effective at marketing our new meeting space, hotel rooms and suites, and additional amenities to customers both near and far,” Birtha said. “We look forward to starting our sales process later this year and taking reservations for group and corporate business visiting Tucson in late 2011.”
