Regent Grand Hotel Bordeaux Appoints GM
October 20, 2010 - Michel Andre Galopin has been named new General Manager of The Regent Grand Hotel Bordeaux, the first and only luxury hotel in Bordeaux.
"I am delighted to discover Bordeaux and its most beautiful jewel, The Regent Grand Hotel," commented Galopin. "Alongside owner Michel Ohayon, my team and I will passionately work on the further success of this property."
Galopin brings extensive luxury hospitality experience at leading properties in Europe and Asia to his new post in Bordeaux. Born in Seine-et-Marne France, Galopin began his career at the Intercontinental Hotel in Geneva, followed by Paris' legendary Ritz and Plaza-Athenee. After some time at the Westminster in Paris, Galopin worked several years in Asia, including the Mandarin Oriental in Bangkok, the Regent in Hong Kong, and the Peninsula Hong Kong. At the latter, he worked with designer Philippe Starck to develop the world-famous restaurant Felix.
In 1998, he returned to France and opened boutique hotel Le Vendome in Paris. He was then appointed General Manager of the Grand-Hotel du Cap-Ferrat - a position he held for almost 12 years. Under his leadership, the hotel received the "Five Star Diamond Award" at ITB Berlin, and became a member of The Leading Small Hotels of the World.
A French national, Galopin graduated from the Cornell Hotel School in the United States and the Wine & Spirit Institute in London. He is a member of the Advisory Board of the famous École Hotelière de Lausanne in Switzerland, and Vice President for France of EHMA. In 2007 he was named Chevalier de l'Ordre du Merite in France.
Galopin succeeds Nathalie Seiler-Hayez, who has been appointed new General Manager of The Connaught in London.
The Regent Grand Hotel Bordeaux opened June 2008 and is located in the heart of Bordeaux, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Jacques Garcia completely renovated and redesigned the 150-key property, linking together eight historic structures. Property highlights include the Michelin-starred fine dining restaurant Le Pressoir d'Argent, in-room wine bars in eight Prestige Suites, upscale cocktails lounge the Victor Bar and L'Orangerie, an indoor/outdoor winter garden. The property also offers 15 meeting rooms for events, including the original 18th Century Marble Room.
