. November 02, 2010

Colorado Springs, CO - October 29, 2010 - Two Cheyenne Mountain Resort employees were recently honored during the 2010 Colorado Hotel and Lodging Association's (CHLA) annual award ceremony. Jason Morris, assistant superintendent; and Naomi Joseph, lead set-up attendant, food and beverage, were selected among 47,000 Colorado lodging employees to receive top honors as “Employee of the Year.” Additionally, Brenda Lyons, senior conference planning manager; Carlos Rueda, tennis attendant; and John Palmer, doorman, were recognized as finalists.

Each year the Colorado Hotel and Lodging Association honors outstanding employees in the industry who consistently perform at the highest level of excellence. This year there were 208 finalists and 27 statewide winners.

“As a CHLA board member, it was a pleasure and a privilege to have Cheyenne Mountain Resort's outstanding team recognized at the award ceremony,” said Laura Neumann, vice president and general manager of Cheyenne Mountain Resort, operated by Benchmark Management International.

Jason Morris has been with The Country Club of Colorado at Cheyenne Mountain Resort for 10 years, beginning his career as a turf technician in the golf course maintenance department, and advancing to assistant superintendent in November of 2003. In 2009, he was awarded “Manager of the Quarter” by the Country Club.

Naomi Joseph has been with Cheyenne Mountain Resort for 15 years, and is an active member of the “Green Committee,” instrumental in implementing new sustainability programs at the Resort. In 2008, Naomi received Benchmark Hospitality International's “Best of the Best” award, in addition to Cheyenne Mountain Resort's “Employee of the Month” award.

Five other Cheyenne Mountain Resort staff members have been honored with the title of “CHLA Employee of the Year” in years past.
