Carlson Promotes Maria Seiler to VP of Diversity
MINNEAPOLIS, MN, January 26, 2007. Maria Seiler, a senior director of human resources for Minneapolis-based Carlson Hotels Worldwide (CHW), has been promoted to Vice President of Diversity for CHW and Regent. She fills the position previously held by Carmen Baker, who was promoted in May to vice president of diversity for Carlson Companies, the parent company for CHW and Regent.
Carlson's hotel brands include Regent Hotels & Resorts, Radisson Hotels & Resorts(R), Park Plaza(R) Hotels & Resorts, Country Inns & SuitesSM By Carlson and Park Inn(R). Regent also includes Regent Seven Seas Cruises.
"Maria will utilize her substantial professional Human Resources experiences, as well as her relevant life experiences to help our operating groups utilize diversity and inclusion to further drive business success," said Bob Fox, vice president of Human Resources for CHW and Regent.
Seiler has more than 19 years of Human Resources (HR) leadership experience in the hospitality industry. She joined the company's Radisson brand in 1989 as a hotel Human Resource director and also served as regional HR director for Radisson hotels located on the West Coast. In 1992, she joined the hotel business' corporate HR team and was the HR leader responsible for staffing and training for several new hotel projects in the emerging markets of Northern Ireland, Latvia, Guatemala, Belize and Spain. As director and senior director of HR, her responsibilities have included providing expert HR business partner support to all the corporate staff supporting the company's hotel brands and its cruise business.
Before joining the company, she served in several key human resources roles with the Scottsdale Princess Resort in Arizona, as well as the Marriott Camelback Inn in Scottsdale.
Born in Mexico, Seiler is fluent in Spanish. Seiler earned her bachelor's degree in sociology from the University of Texas Austin.
