March 3, 2011 - Outrigger Hotels & Resorts has appointed Daniel Jones General Manager of the new Boathouse Apartments by Outrigger, located in the tourist and yachting haven of Airlie Beach.

With over ten years experience in the hospitality industry, Jones brings to Outrigger high levels of professionalism and knowledge of North Queensland's tourism industry, which naturally augurs auguring well for the company as he establishes a market for the first waterfront resort to be built in Airlie Beach in five years.

Jones moved to Airlie Beach from Port Douglas where he held the joint positions of assistant resort manager and operations manager at a prominent strata-titled resort, and was responsible for operations, guest and stakeholder relations and oversaw an A$8 million refurbishment.

He has worked at a range of corporate and leisure-based properties including a role as executive assistant manager at a luxury resort on Brampton Island, where he developed a thorough understanding of the Whitsundays tourism industry.

“His broad operational experience and knowledge of strata resorts was an important factor in Outrigger's selection criteria,” said Grant James, Regional General Manager Australia. “Coupled with Daniel's strength in guest relations, he was a natural fit for us.”

The Boathouse Apartments by Outrigger opened on March 1, 2011 and features 56 two and three bedroom self-contained apartments, four bedroom penthouses, pool, spa, tennis court and 44-berth marina. Each apartment overlooks the Port of Airlie Marina out to the Coral Sea and islands that form Queensland's acclaimed Whitsundays region.
