EVENT Hotels Purchases the ibis Malmö in Sweden
Cologne, Germany - March 7, 2011 - EVENT Hotels are expanding in Sweden and have now also acquired the ibis Hotel in Malmö. This 255-room hotel is ideally situated in an up-and-coming industrial region, near the Swedbank Stadium and the Malmö Arena. Only a short time ago EVENT Hotels announced their entry to the Swedish market and extended their portfolio with 18 further hotels. EVENT Hotels now operate 18 hotels at various locations throughout the country - from Sundsvall in the north to Malmö in the south of Sweden. They will be run under the brand name Accor. The acquisitions were made in partnership with the Swedish venture capital company Sveafastigheter.
Anders Braks, the spokesman for EVENT Hotels, announced extensive refurbishments. As at the other hotels, at ibis Malmö the 255 guest rooms, the public areas and the conference rooms will get a new design. Bright, fresh colours and modern furnishings and equipment will then characterise the hotel's appearance. “We take these measures at all newly acquired properties in order to enhance the competitiveness of our hotels”, says Braks.
