. October 14, 2008

WHITE PLAINS, NY, January 29, 2007. Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc.(R) (NYSE:HOT) today announced the conversion of the Sheraton(R) Austin Hotel, the first Starwood hotel in the burgeoning city of Austin, Texas. Formerly the Marriott Austin Capitol, the hotel transitioned on January 26, in the heart of downtown Austin, Texas, a city known for its leading technology firms and dynamic social scene.

The Sheraton Austin Hotel's sleek modern architecture includes a four-story glass atrium, offering stunning views of downtown Austin and the Capitol Building. The hotel, which is owned and operated by HEI Hotels & Resorts under a long-term management agreement with Starwood, features 361 guest rooms, including four suites and more than 17,000 square feet of meeting space.

Just one half mile from Convention Center and ten miles from Austin Bergstrom International Airport, the Sheraton Austin Hotel is scheduled to undergo an extensive renovation this summer, including upgrades to all guestrooms and the addition of all of Sheraton's comforting signature amenities and services.

A rich blend of art galleries, music shops, and live music performances are all within walking distance of the Sheraton Austin Hotel. Home to Dell Computer, Austin also houses regional headquarters for companies including IBM, Apple Computer and 3M. The city derives much of its creative energy from the University of Texas and also boasts its own professional ballet, symphony, opera and theater companies. Meanwhile, nature lovers will appreciate Austin's ample parks, preserves and lakes just south of the downtown office towers.

"We are thrilled to make our debut in the heart of Austin, Texas, becoming an integral part of this vibrant city known for its fast-growing technology community, energetic music scene and extensive walking trails," said Hoyt Harper, senior vice president Sheraton Hotels. "Sheraton's home-like atmosphere, signature comforts and personalized service are all designed to help guests feel a sense of true belonging from the moment they walk through the door."

Upon checking in, guests will be warmly welcomed into the hotel by its intuitive staff. In their rooms, guests will delight in Sheraton's array of signature amenities including the Sheraton's Sweet Sleeper Bed(R), a ten-layer custom-designed ensemble, comfortable ergonomic chairs and spacious desks.

The hotel also houses an indoor-outdoor connecting pool, a children's pool, whirlpool, and a fitness center. Guests can dine at the hotel's restaurant Rojo Red, which serves Southwestern entrees for breakfast, lunch and dinner, or stroll to one of several nearby restaurants where they can enjoy a range of cuisine including Chinese, Tex-Mex and Cajun. Those in need of a caffeine infusion can order their favorites at the Starbucks kiosk in the lobby.
