Sushi, Sake and Sunsets at Hyatt Regency Trinidad
Premier Caribbean hotel offers business and leisure travelers a wide variety of sushi and sake cocktails
May 16, 2011 - Sashimi, Saketinis and the beautiful view of the Gulf of Paria. One might not expect to savor sushi rolls, makimono and temaki while watching the sun set over the gulf, but guests at Hyatt Regency Trinidad, one of the region's premier business and meetings hotels, can do just that. The hotel's sushi bar serves up the island's best Japanese cuisine.
“We attract a varied local and international clientele and we anticipated that the sushi bar would be a great addition to the hotel's offerings, appealing to both first-time and experienced sushi diners,” said Russell George, general manager at Hyatt Regency Trinidad. “It has been a great success with business travelers meeting with clients or winding down the day, as well as leisure travelers and locals looking for a place to 'lime' with friends.”
Sushi Chef Joel Del Castillo is trained in Japanese cuisine and sharpened his skills while working in Japan. Chef Joel and his team, together with Executive Chef Franco, serve up a variety of sushi on the menu, including a wide selection both for the novice and the well-seasoned sushi diner.
New sushi rolls on the menu include the Super California, the Caribbean Cream Dream and the Ultimate Dragon, alongside favorites such as the hotel's own Trinidad Roll. Sashimi options on the menu range from Maguro (red tuna) to Tako (octopus). Other offerings include Makimono, Nigiri and Temaki. Guests looking for a sake cocktail to accompany their meal can select from choices such as the Sake Sunset, combining sake, orange, lemon and grenadine; the Bonsai, with sake, midori, Malibu, pineapple and Blue Curacao or the simple Saketini with sake and Grey Goose vodka.
The sushi bar is located next to the lobby of the Hyatt Regency Trinidad and is open from 5:30 to 10:30 pm. For more information, visit trinidad.hyatt.com or call 1-800-233-1234.
