Todd Scholl Named DoSM for Hyatt Regency Tulsa
TULSA, OK - July 8, 2011 - Sales and marketing are in Todd's blood. Both of his parents are sales professionals and taught him the finer points of building rapport and closing the deal. He is a consummate hospitality professional who draws on over 19 years of experience from the cornfields of Iowa to the Speedway in Indianapolis to President Clinton Avenue in Little Rock.
Todd currently serves as director of sales and marketing for Hyatt Regency in Tulsa where he oversees the group sales, catering and revenue functions for the hotel. In December 2004, he was appointed director of sales and marketing for The Peabody Little Rock, a Forbes Four Star and a AAA Four-Diamond property within the portfolio of Peabody Hotels, and Preferred Hotels & Resorts where he serves for more than six years. In his role there, he led efforts to record revenues and achieving the Forbes Four Star rating along with creating the largest New Year's Eve Party in Arkansas.
Before joining The Peabody Little Rock, he was director of sales and marketing or the luxurious Canterbury Hotel - Indianapolis, a position he held for four years. At this Preferred Hotel & Resorts property, he was responsible for all aspects of sales, marketing, yield control, group sales, marketing and PR. Prior to that, he worked with the Indianapolis Convention & Visitors Bureau and with Marriott International.
Todd's overall sales background and experience at some very upscale hotel properties, make him a valuable asset to the development and growth of the Hyatt Regency Tulsa. He is keenly aware of the vagaries of modern-day sales and marketing trends, and has the mentality and drive to design and implement workable, result-oriented strategies.
A native of Fort Madison, Iowa, Todd studied at the University of Iowa and graduated in 1989 with a bachelor's degree in communication. He first became interested in the hotel/hospitality sales field when he heard a speech given by a hotel general manager at a Dale Carnegie training course. He quickly realized that hotel/hospitality sales provided him the perfect platform for his interpersonal skills and innovative sales strategies. His hotel career began in 1992 when he joined Signature Inns, Inc., as a "turnaround specialist." He took on a struggling property, and in two years turned it into a market leader.
