Pacifica Aquires Pelican Inn on Cambria's Moonstone Beach
July 13. 2011 - InvestWest/Pacifica Hotel Company announced today the acquisition of the Pelican Inn & Suites on beautiful Moonstone Beach in Cambria, adding to its portfolio of distinctive properties on the California coast.
“Pacifica Hotel Company has always followed a long-term strategy that has enabled us to acquire properties when we see value and opportunity regardless of what other hotel companies may be doing,” said Dale Marquis, the company's Chairman and CEO. “In this case, although most hotel companies are retrenching, Pacifica has been very successful in the Cambria area with our Best Western Plus Fireside Inn and FogCatcher Inn. Since we are also seeing a modest increase in travel to the California coast overall, we decided to make the Pelican Inn acquisition now to help position our company for continued growth in the future.”
With 48 rooms - 27 of them suites - and a 4 Diamond rating, the highest rating on Moonstone Beach, the Pelican Inn draws both recreational and business travelers. Convenient to popular Hearst Castle and featuring fireplaces in every room, the hotel boasts a warm, casual European feel along with amenities such as high speed wireless internet, heated pool, fitness center, meeting space, fully cooked breakfast buffet, and evening wine and dessert receptions.

Terms of the acquisition, which was effective Friday, July 1, were not announced. Marquis said Pacifica plans to invest in enhancing the Pelican Inn's facilities.
