InterContinental Appointments Across South Pacific
SYDNEY, Australia, August 8, 2005. InterContinental Hotels Group has made the following appointments in Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific:
Greg Cox has been named General Manager of the Holiday Inn Melbourne. Previously General Manager of the Crowne Plaza Coogee Beach, Greg will also hold a regional role overseeing operations in the group's portfolio of CBD hotels in Adelaide, Melbourne and Perth as well as Holiday Inn Melbourne Airport, InterContinental Burswood Resort Perth and the newly-opened Holiday Inn Burswood.
Crowne Plaza Coogee Beach's new General Manager is Bill Sheppard. Bill moves from his role as General Manager of InterContinental Wellington and InterContinental Hotels Group Director of Operations New Zealand / South Pacific, where he was responsible for a series of major successes in solidifying the Group's growth and position within the region. In his new role, Bill will draw upon his vast international experience to also oversee the group's operations within eastern New South Wales.
The new General Manager of InterContinental Wellington is David Shackleton. David joins InterContinental Hotels Group from his most recent role as Senior Vice President & Area Managing Director for Starwood Hotels and Resorts in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji, as well as General Manager of the Sheraton on the Park in Sydney. David's extensive experience also includes previous senior management positions in Canada and South Africa, as well as Managing Director and General Manager positions in Thailand, Hawaii, Korea and Australia. David will also oversee the group's operations in New Zealand / South Pacific.
Also joining the Group is Terry Holt, who has been appointed Business Development Director of the Crowne Plaza Auckland. Having spent the last four years as Director of Sales at the Spencer on Byron Hotel, Terry brings an extensive knowledge of the Auckland travel and tourism as well as valuable experience from his time with the Plaza and Flag / Choice Group of Hotels in New Zealand, preceded by seven years with the Australian Tourist Commission in Auckland.
