With more than 25 years of strategic planning and business development experience within the luxury hotel and resort industry, and proven ability to produce substantial revenue generation, Islava is an incredible addition to the resort.
Prior to Lakeway, Michael was the Director of Sales and Marketing at The Renaissance Esmeralda Resort & Spa in Indian Wells, Ca., from 2007-09, where he integrated a company-wide brand campaign, utilizing innovative marketing channels. Michael concentrated on repositioning the signature restaurant through showcasing the chef as a local celebrity and securing press coverage, taking it to a Zagat award-winning restaurant.
From 2002-07, Michael served as Director of Sales and Marketing at La Quinta Resort & Club in La Quinta, Ca., where he led a team of 25. Michael's extensive experience with the Coachella Valley originated at the Ritz-Carlton and The Lodge at Rancho Mirage, both in Rancho Mirage. His 15 year career with Ritz Carlton took him throughout Southern California from Laguna Niguel to Pasadena, as well as across the Pacific to Kapalua, Maui.
Michael currently lives in Palm Springs with his wife, Jill, and youngest son, while his older daughter attends Texas State University. A proud parent, Islava enjoys coaching flag football and watching his son play football and lacrosse.
