To become a member of the Florida Green Lodging program, which was launched in March 2004, hotels and motels are required to implement a variety of green practices; including water conservation measures, a linen reuse program, programmable thermostats and installation of ENERGY STAR appliances. The waste reduction criteria may be met by increasing recycling initiatives, buying in bulk and purchasing recycled materials.
