Radisson Blu Sobieski Hotel to Open in Poland in Q3 2011
August 18, 2011 - Radisson Blu Sobieksi Hotel joins the 311-key Radisson Blu Centrum Hotel, Warsaw, as well as eight other Radisson Blu properties throughout the country.
The Rezidor Hotel Group, one of the fastest growing hotel companies worldwide, announces Radisson Blu Sobieski Hotel, Warsaw. Scheduled to open in Q3 2011, the property will be Rezidor's second hotel in Warsaw and ninth in Poland.
Originally the Jan III Sobieski Hotel, Warsaw, the property is named after one of Europe's greatest monarchs, Sobieski, who ruled Poland for 22 years during the 1600s. Designed and built in 1992 by an Austrian-Polish team, the hotel was recently acquired by the Norwegian investment company Wenaasgruppen.
The hotel will undergo an extensive renovation program to reopen as a Radisson Blu in Q3 2011. By 2015, the property will comprise 467 guest rooms with Radisson Blu signature amenities including complimentary high speed internet, two restaurants, a lounge, a wellness area with Jacuzzis, sauna and gym, and a 15,000 square-foot conference center, making it one of the largest meeting locations in Warsaw.
"With now 17 properties, Wenaasgruppen is the largest single owner of Rezidor hotels. We are thankful and delighted to further strengthen our trustful co-operation and also look forward to further developing our portfolio in Poland, a country clearly on the move," said Kurt Ritter, President & CEO of Rezidor.
Situated in the southern part of Warsaw's central business district, the property is easily accessible: Fryderyk Chopin International Airport is only four miles away, the city's main railway station is less than one mile.
Radisson Blu Sobieksi Hotel joins the 311-key Radisson Blu Centrum Hotel, Warsaw, as well as eight other Radisson Blu properties throughout the country. Other European hotels in the pipeline include Radisson Blu Midlands Airport, Great Britain (Q1 2012) and Radisson Blu Uppsala, Sweden (Q3 2012).
