Pelican Hill Appoints Douglas Hoagland Director Special Events
September 30, 2011 - Pelican Hill® today announced the appointment of Douglas Hoagland to the position of director of special events. With more than 25 years of hospitality events experience, Hoagland will lead the luxury Resort's catering and conference services department, overseeing special events, weddings and conferences on site, as well as Pelican Hill's new off-site catering program.
“As an industry veteran, Douglas brings a wealth of expertise, passion, sophistication and professionalism to Pelican Hill's special events clientele,” said Giuseppe Lama, Managing Director of Pelican Hill. “As The Orange County Register's top reader-ranked wedding venue for two consecutive years, we continue to deliver gracious personalized service and unforgettable social and business events to our guests through the Resort's team of talented weddings, catering and conference services experts.”
Expanding upon Pelican Hill's on-site offerings for social, corporate and philanthropic events, the Resort introduced a new off-site catering program this fall. Under Hoagland's guidance, the program will offer Resort groups additional events and entertainment variety by pairing Pelican Hill's unsurpassed service and quality with a series of superb Southern California venues.
Before joining Pelican Hill, Hoagland advised leading companies and elite event planners as an independent event consultant. Prior to consulting, Hoagland oversaw special events as director of catering and conference services on the opening team for Terranea Resort in Palos Verdes.
Earlier in his career, Hoagland held leadership positions with The Beverly Hills Hotel and Bungalows as senior director of catering sales, with Omni Hotels as Director of Conference Planning, and with various Westin Hotels & Resorts properties. Hoagland is a Restaurant Hotel Management graduate of Purdue University.
