New Director of Food and Beverage at Virginia Tech

BLACKSBURG, VA, February 1, 2007. Raymond Alexander has been named director of food and beverage at the Inn at Virginia Tech & Skelton Conference Center.

Alexander brings to the New River Valley 19 years of international experience in food service, culinary arts and restaurant management. He joins the Inn from the Provo Marriott Hotel and Conference Center in Utah, where he was the director of food and beverage for a 331-room hotel, 120-seat restaurant and industry-accredited conference center.

Previously, he served as executive chef with the Salt Lake City Hilton hotel and has had experience as executive chef in fine dining operations at various venues in both Utah and his native South Africa. He has served as Chef de Cuisine for the residence of the president of South Africa

In his new role, Alexander will be responsible for food and beverage service throughout the Inn at Virginia Tech & Skelton Conference Center, including Preston's restaurant, banquets and conferences, and room service.

Alexander received a culinary degree and certification from the Royal Culinary Academy in South Africa. He also has a bachelor's degree in business marketing.
