Earth Hour at YTL Hotels
March 19, 2012 - YTL Hotels will continue to play its part in supporting Earth Hour and raising the profile of the issues and problems facing the planet. On March 31, 2012 between 8.30pm and 10.00pm, YTL Hotels will turn off all the non-essential lights throughout its properties and offer several activities to coincide with Earth Hour and offer guests candlelight dinners with specially created Earth Hour themed menus, while being serenaded by live music.
The combined carbon emission savings of turning off all the non-essential lights in each of YTL Hotels' Malaysian luxurious properties as well as YTL Corporation's other Malaysian and Singapore companies will come to 1398 (kgC02/hr). YTL Hotels' efforts will also extend beyond Malaysia to their properties overseas in Thailand, Bali and Japan where they will also contribute in a collaborated powerful effort with the rest of the world towards raising global awareness on the issues of global warming.
The private tropical island, Pangkor Laut Resort, will get back to nature when it turns off all its non-essential lights in its contribution to Earth Hour. Guests on the island for the worldwide occasion can celebrate it with a specially designed Earth Hour buffet at Feast Village. The special Earth Hour menu is priced at RM375++ per person.
The Unmistakably Malay Tanjong Jara Resort will be offering guests live entertainment in candlelight by manipulating the light and shadows with a Wayang Kulit performance. Low Carbon Footprint mocktails will be served throughout Earth Hour to add to the experience.
Guests can enjoy a special Earth Hour dining experience at the Dining Room at Cameron Highlands Resort. The entire resort will carry a romantic ambiance with all of its essential lights turned off and the corridors will be lit with tea lights. The special Earth Hour menu is priced at RM200++ per person.
For those staying at The Majestic Malacca, a pianist will perform live during a candlelit dinner in The Mansion that guests will walk to guided by tea lights which will line up the walkways and common areas. The special Earth Hour menu is priced at RM140++ per person.
JW Marriott Kuala Lumpur will be offering a special Earth Hour dining experience in Shanghai under the glow of candlelight where guests can also enjoy a complimentary glass of red house wine with their meal. The special Earth Hour menu is priced at 178++ per person.
In its efforts to support the global campaign, The Ritz-Carlton, Kuala Lumpur will be turning off its main lights, leaving on only those deemed essential and will be serving a special 'Carbon-Free' dinner to guests. The special Earth Hour menu is priced at 200++ per person.
At Vistana Kuala Lumpur, complimentary low-energy snacks will be served while walkways and common areas will be lined with atmospheric tea lights to lead guests to their candlelight dinner at the Coffee House.
Meanwhile, a mini hawker fair will be set up at Vistana Kuantan's poolside, with mesmerising cultural performances by the hotel staff, while guests tuck into the mouthwatering array of traditional Malaysian delicacies.
Besides being treated to light snacks and fruit punch, in-house guests of Vistana Penang will be invited to light up the hotel's re-creation of the Earth Hour logo formed by tea light candles at the Lobby, during countdown.
At Spa Village Resort Tembok, Bali, a spiritual ambiance will be created for guests to capture the essence of Earth Hour with the poolside lined with candles out under the stars and by the beach. To mark the occasion, guests will be treated to a live Gamelan performance while also enjoying a barbecue dinner.
For guests staying at The Surin, Phuket, they can either dine by candlelight at the Lomtalay Thai restaurant or enjoy a candlelit barbecue on the beach which will be served with a complimentary glass of Prosecco.
In Niseko, the restaurants and lounge area at The Green Leaf Niseko Village will be lit with candles. The Hilton Niseko Village will also be offering spa treatments in candlelight in the Wakka Spa and there will be a live Japanese Drum performance at The Flame for the guests' entertainment.
