PALM DESERT, CA - March 28, 2012 - In celebration of the award-winning resort's 2012 “silver anniversary,” Southern California's renowned JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa announces a host of exciting updates in an effort to enhance the property's overall guest experience. Located in the heart of the Coachella Valley, the JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa boasts an all-encompassing renovation that includes 884 revitalized guestrooms and suites, the addition of Rockwood Grill & Blue Star Lounge and Fisherman's Landing as its latest dining options, and a new retail outlet, Sunnylands Chocolate Factory.

“We are excited to celebrate 25 exceptional years in service by providing guests with a rejuvenated resort experience and fresh dining options,” said Ken Schwartz, General Manager of Desert Springs. “This revitalization reflects the resort's continuous effort to enhance the overall guest experience, paving the way for many more successful years to come.”

Additional renovation details as follows:

Rockwood Grill & Blue Star Lounge: Taste of the Town - Slated to open in May 2012, the sophisticated all-day dining venue will feature an upscale-casual menu of diverse American classics. The transformation of LakeView restaurant into Rockwood Grill will include a complete overhaul of the main dining room, a dramatic illuminated bar activating the double height atrium, a takeout counter for guests on the go, and the addition Blue Star Lounge, an all new outdoor terrace with fire pits and a la carte seating. The abundance of California's farms and local producers serve as the springboard for the hearty, healthful menu items to be offered at the new restaurant, alongside a blend of hand-crafted farm-to-glass cocktails, regional microbrews and carefully chosen selection of California wines.

Golf Course Renovations: In Full Swing - Upgrades to the resort's acclaimed Palm Course include new tees, bunkers and USGA-specifications greens on each of the 18 holes. Ted Robinson, Jr. worked to bring back much of his father's original design while creating some unique new features to bring a fresh and distinctive look to the course's already picturesque layout. This $1.5 million project began in May and the course reopened at the end of October.

Room Rejuvenation: Elegant Dreams - Completed in early 2012, the resort's 884 guestrooms and suites have been updated to include all-new beds and bedding, artwork, carpet, drapes, paint and teakwood artisan headboards. The guest corridors also received all-new carpet, paint, artwork and wall treatments. Each room is now equipped with an iHome audio system.

Fisherman's Landing: Reel in Signature Seafood Favorites - Adding to three existing Fisherman's Market locations throughout Southern California, the Fisherman's Landing will offer a variety of signature, award-winning seafood favorites and will be located near the Golf Pro Shop, Oasis Pool complex and Colonnade of Shops. The restaurant is scheduled to open in May 2012.

Sunnylands Chocolate Factory: Choc-o-LOT - Opened in September 2011, Sunnylands Chocolate Factory offers a vast selection of gourmet chocolate treats, in addition to two dozen varieties of caramel apples and a menu of specialty items that includes dipped strawberries, marshmallows and pretzels, in addition to s'mores, rice krispy treats and mint oreo bark.
