James Holmes Appointed GM of 60-room Nantucket Hotel & Resort in Massachusetts
Nantucket Island, Massachusetts - April 27, 2012 - Mark and Gwenn Snider, owners of the highly anticipated Nantucket Hotel & Resort, are pleased to announce the appointment of James “Jamie” Holmes as the hotel's general manager. The 60-room property, which is a rebirth of the iconic Point Breeze Hotel, will welcome its first guests this summer.
In this role, Holmes will be responsible for the successful opening, subsequent performance, and day-to-day operations of Nantucket Island's last grand-dame resort dating from 1891. The Nantucket Hotel & Resort will feature carefully appointed modern comforts set in the property's original 19th century architectural style. This quintessential New England, all-season resort will feature the largest ballroom on the island, offer a complimentary children's program, swimming pool and children's pool, fitness facility, and cafe.
Holmes brings a wealth of experience to this position with a career spanning close to 25 years. He has held numerous general manager positions for leading hotel companies, including The Ritz-Carlton and The Crowne Plaza, and small luxury properties like The Resort at Paws Up in Montana; the Biras Creek Resort in Virgin Gorda, BVI; and the Peter Island Resort & Yacht Club on Peter Island, BVI. Most recently, Holmes transformed the Nisbet Plantation Beach Club in the Nevis West Indies into an award-winning luxury boutique hotel.

Jamie Holmes is a graduate of the University of Florida and currently resides in Nantucket with his wife, 11-year-old daughter and 7-year-old twin girls. As an avid bike rider and self-taught photographer, Holmes enjoys capturing the stunning scenery offered on the island.
