APT Wins NZ Tour Award

. October 14, 2008

FEBRUARY 14, 2007. Australia Pacific Touring was awarded Best New Zealand Product Development for a Structured Programme at the prestigious Tourism New Zealand Awards 2007 last week.

One of the oldest escorted tour companies, APT has added three brand new small, luxury group adventures to some of the best beaches, wineries and fiords New Zealand has to offer. Groups are led by expert tour guides, take a maximum of 16 passengers, and last for four to five days. Accommodation includes the best boutique properties in the area, cruising vessels and lodges.

The new tours cover the Coromandel, Marlborough and Fiordland regions of the country. The Coromandel Regional Experience takes in the semi-tropical rainforest, the therapeutic waters of Hot Water Beach, some of the country's finest coastline and finally a visit to the Martha Goldmine in Waihi, once the world's richest goldmine now inhabited by thousands of glow worms. The Marlborough Experience combines a gourmet wine tour of the region visiting the world renowned Cloudy Bay Winery with a cruise on the Marlborough Sounds and the Queen Charlotte Sound. And finally, the Fiordland Regional Experience is a five day trip exploring the islands around the southern tip of South Island with a special trip to the untouched Stewart Island and overnight onboard the Fiordland Navigator on Doubtful Sound.

'We worked very closely with Tourism New Zealand and after considerable research realised there was a gap in the market for a structured tour that enabled travellers to get off the beaten track, meet the locals and have a truly authentic and unforgettable experience. Our passenger numbers for New Zealand were up 24 per cent last year and we believe these trips will be very popular with Brits who want to combine an essentially independent holiday with a short tour', said Janice Kurrle Product & Marketing Manager for APT.
