Benchmark Appoints GM at Stonewall Resort, Roanoke WV

HOUSTON, TX, February 13, 2007. Benchmark Hospitality International has announced the appointment of Floyd R. Hunter, Jr. as general manager for Stonewall Resort, a 208-guestroom property with a lakeside lodge and cottages on 2000 acres in Roanoke, West Virginia. Bill Upshaw, vice president, made the announcement.

Mr. Hunter comes to Benchmark Hospitality with three decades of executive level experience in a variety of markets. Prior to joining the company, he was president, COO and general manager for the Buck Hill Falls Company of Buck Hill Falls, Pennsylvania, a large upscale private resort situated on 5000 acres. Previous to this he was president and COO of Hunter Associates, a hospitality management and consulting company.
Hunter has served as general manager of both the Governor Carver Motor Inn and the Governor Bradford Motor Inn, located in Plymouth, Massachusetts. He was assistant general manager for the Red Jacket Mountain View Resort of North Conway, New Hampshire. Hunter also invested a portion of his career as business and operations manager of the prestigious Mountain View House, located in Whitefield, New Hampshire.
His initial entry into the hospitality industry was as assistant general manager and eventually interim general manager for the Waumbek Inn and Country Club of Jefferson, New Hampshire. Mr. Hunter launched his professional life building and operating a family business, together with his wife Carolee.
Floyd R. Hunter, Jr. is a graduate of Quinnipiac University, located in Hamden, Connecticut, with a Bachelors degree in management and marketing. He achieved his Certified Hotel Administrator designation from the Education Institute of the American Hotel and Lodging Association, located in East Lansing, Michigan. He and his family are relocating to Roanoke, West Virginia.
