IACC to Appoint Gen X/Y Board Associate

North American Board of Directors

. October 14, 2008

FEBRUARY 14, 2007. The Board of Directors of IACC North America (IACC) has announced the creation of a Board Associate position with a particular focus of identifying and advising the Board of Directors on emerging trends from the perspective of Generations X & Y.

Generations X & Y

Generation X is defined as the generation following the Baby Boomers. Generation X was born between 1965 and 1980, now ranging in age from 26 to 42. The next generation, The Y Generation, was born between 1981 and 1995, and represent more than 57 million strong. The Y Generation is the largest consumer group in the history of the U.S. Gen Y alone would be the fastest-growing segment of the workforce - growing from 14% of the workforce to 21% over the past four years to nearly 32 million workers.

"There is no denying," says Neil Pompan, President of IACC, NA, "that Generations X and Y are the employees that are entering the workforce today; they are the future. We want to bring them into the fold and incorporate their generational input into IACC as we move forward."

The ideal candidate would come from an IACC-approved conference facility and be under the age of 30 while holding a mid-level management position or higher and be poised for career advancement within our industry.

Accepting nominations for the groundbreaking position, IACC expects to tap the Special Advisor and announce the appointment at the 26th annual conference scheduled for April 19-22 at The Heldrich in New Brunswick, NJ. The Board Associate will attend all other Board meetings over a one-year term and will be assigned to work on an IACC committee (attending meetings via conference call) and give a final report on his or her observations and experiences at the Winter Board Meeting in January 2008.

"It is imperative that we maintain a cutting-edge perspective on technological and societal trends that affect our industry says Pompan, and not only embrace those trends, but get ahead of that curve and project trends. A special Gen X/Y Advisor will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on our industry and our association.

Celebrating its Silver Anniversary, the International Association of Conference Centers, founded in 1981, is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting understanding and awareness of the conference center industry. Active members meet a set of stringent Universal Criteria and agree to a Code of Ethics. Currently, the association includes approximately 400 members from the United States, Australia, Canada, Denmark, Sweden, France, England, The Netherlands, Germany and Japan.
