Rio Grande, Puerto Rico - October 12, 2012 - The St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort is delighted to announce the appointment of Tiago Sarmento as Director of Sales and Marketing for the prestigious resort located in Puerto Rico. Sarmento will oversee group and leisure sales initiatives as well as marketing and advertising activities for the highly acclaimed luxury resort that recently earned AAA's coveted Five Diamond rating.

Sarmento brings an extraordinary background in luxury hospitality to his new role at the property. Prior to joining The St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort, he held the title of Director of Sales and Marketing for The St. Regis Tianjin, China, where he drove myriad successful marketing initiatives from launching the first ever Fashion Week in Tianjin to pioneering food and beverage social media campaigns. He also served as Director of Sales and Marketing for The St. Regis Mexico City since its preopening in 2008. Sarmento has a deep knowledge of and experience with Starwood brands in addition to St. Regis as well, having joined the hotel company over a decade ago. With Starwood, he has also worked as the Director of Sales and Marketing for Hotel Marques de Riscal, Spain, the Frank Gehry masterpiece and internationally renowned hotel. Additional experience includes roles at The Sheraton Lisboa Hotel & Towers, Portugal; The Luxury Collection Turnberry, Scotland; The Westin La Quinta Golf Resort, Marbella Spain; and The Sheraton Brussels Hotel & Towers, Belgium.
Sarmento is a graduate of the Glion Hotel School with a Bachelor of Arts in International Hospitality Management and he is fluent in four languages, including Portuguese, French, Spanish, and English.
